|“||That pure moment of absolute horror gave me light and, as wrong as this may seem, I'm better for enduring it. I'm stronger. And, I must admit, I'm grateful for it.||”|
— Joan tells her story[src]
Joan was a young woman, who at one point got targeted by John Kramer, better known as the Jigsaw Killer, who put her in one of his deadly traps. Joan however managed to overcome Jigaw's game and was thereby able to survive and escaped her trap. Despite this horrendous experience, Joan felt stronger afterwards and actually appreciated her life, causing her to be grateful for her test despite still feeling a strong grudge against Jigsaw. Following her survival, Joan told her story of survival to the public during an interview, stating that she wished the same experience for everyone like her. Unknown to her, her story inspired a young man named Bobby Dagen to become rich and famous by publishing his own story of surviving one of Jigsaw trap, even though he actually was never tested by him. (Saw 3D)
Not much can be said about Joan's personality due to her short screen time. However, her story about overcoming Jigsaw suggests that she was formerly a rather insecure individual, who found a new purpose in her life after her survival. Despite feeling a strong grudge against Jigsaw, she was grateful for her experience and improved on her life afterwards, stating that her survival had made her stronger.
