Kerry, we're in the wrong fucking house!
— Rigg discovers Jigsaw's deception

The Fake Nerve Gas House is a fictional location from the Saw franchise as well as a minor location in Saw II.

Layout and Structure[]

The Fake Nerve Gas House was a large, run-down, one-storied residential house. It is unknown when or by whom it was built. Besides some differences, most of the house strongly resembled the actual Nerve Gas House, which John Kramer, better known as the Jigsaw Killer, had used for one of his deadly games. There were two known entrances to the house. The first one was a large front door leading to a huge entrance hall. The second entrance was a backdoor which was connected to the entrance hall as well through a small corridor. A stairway in the main hall led up to the second floor which housed another set of different rooms. Additionally, the main hall also provided access to the basement of the house. (Saw II)

History[]

Preparation[]

At one point during his series of murders, John Kramer targeted the corrupt detective Eric Matthews, who had innocently framed and arrested numerous people throughout his career, including one of John's apprentices, Amanda Young. Therefore they set up a big game which was going to be directly connected to Eric's test. This game focussed on seven people. The first one was Daniel Matthews, Eric's son who had become estranged from him after he had cheated on Daniel's mother with his former partner, Detective Allison Kerry. The other persons tested throughout the game were Jonas Singer, his manager Gus Colyard, the prostitute Addison Corday, the drug dealer Xavier Chavez, Laura Hunter and Obi Tate. Additionally Amanda participated in the game as well and played as another victim primarily in order to be able to observe the other prisoners' progress. All of these people were once innocently framed by Eric for crimes they didnÄt commit. In order to gain as many information about the test subjects as possible, John's other apprentice, Detective Mark Hoffman, provided him with their old investigation files. (Saw II, V)

All of them were abducted and taken to the Nerve Gas House, where they had to play one of John's games. They had two hours to solve the dangerous task that John had prepared for them all around the house. By doing so, they could obtain syringes with the antidote for a deadly nerve agent they were breathing in and that would kill them after two hours. As the game ran its course, the situation eventually escalated when one of the victims, Xavier, started to kill the other prisoners. Eventually, Daniel and Amanda were the only ones who survived the massacre. When the game was over, the time for the next part of her and John's plan had come. Amanda went to subdue Daniel and injected him with one of the antidotes. Afterwards, she took his unconscious body with her and brought him to the Wilson Steel Plant, where Jigsaw was already waiting for her to arrive.

John locked Daniel up in a safe, together with a sufficient supply of oxygen. Then he prepared a video broadcast of the game's recordings in the fake house at 237 North Hyde Crescent. After that he waited for the police to arrive at Wilson Steel, as John had left a message for Detective Matthews at his latest crime scene, which was found soon afterward during an asbestos disposal. (Saw II)

Deception[]

The next day, Eric had managed to deduce the location of John's hideout and arrived at the Wilson Steel Plant along with Detective Kerry and a SWAT team led by Sergeant Daniel Rigg. Upon entering the upper floor of the building, they finally found the Jigsaw Killer, John Kramer, who was anticipating their arrival. Rigg immediately ordered his men to arrest him, but they refused to do so when John told Eric it'd the best if John stayed where he was until Eric took care of his problem. He instructed Eric to watch the surveillance monitors in the next room, to which Kerry, Rigg, and Eric then entered the room. Upon looking at the monitors, they saw what appeared to be the game taking place in the Nerve Gas House and recognized one of the eight victims as Eric's son, Daniel. However, they didn't know that the footage was pre-recorded and assumed that the events were unfolding live. After seeing the recording of the game, Eric immediately attempted to attack John and angrily yelled at him before being held back by Rigg. John then explained to Eric the rules of his test. Eric's colleagues had to leave the room while Eric merely had to sit down and talk to John for a period of two hours until a timer went off. If he could successfully do that, he'd eventually see his son again. Eventually, Kerry convinced Eric to accept John's challenge.

However, as time went by and Eric saw the footage of Xavier Chavez' deadly rampage in the house, he brutally beat John up to make him reveal Daniel's whereabouts. Kerry immediately tried to stop him, but she was held back by Rigg. When Eric threatened John with his gun, the latter offered to take him to the house, but demanded to go there with Eric alone. Eric agreed and left the building with John in a hidden elevator. As they left the building, Kerry sent the SWAT team after them, while she stayed with Joe and the tech team as they traced the video feed back to an address at 237 North Hyde Crescent shortly afterwards. However, when Rigg and his team arrived there, they realized that the game was already over and the video feed was merely a recording, so Kerry told the team to come back. As the timer went off, a safe in John's hideout suddenly opened and revealed Daniel Matthews, who had been locked up in the safe all along. (Saw II)
