Or "The Public Trap" or "The Sliding Saws" or "The Wealthhammer Trap" or "The Love Triangle" (as referred to in movie)This trap takes place in a public square, specifically in a mall display room with bulletproof glass. Two men, Brad and Ryan, wake up chained to either end of a table with a circular saw resting in front of them, aimed at their chests, and a third circular saw on a large pivot in the center, pointed towards the ceiling. A woman named Dina is revealed to be suspended above the center saw and restrained to a large, hanging board.
While the public outside is watching and trying to break the glass, Billy the Puppet appears on his tricycle and reveals that Dina slept with both men, manipulating their love for her by making each commit undisclosed crimes. Billy goes on to say that one person from the triad must die in this trap. The decision is made by either Brad or Ryan. In order for one of them and Dina to live, one of the men must slide the saw over to the other side, killing the other and sparring Dina. Or, they could leave the saw blade in the middle, killing Dina once time is up.
The trap begins and a sixty-second timer is revealed. The blades begin to spin as the crowd continues watching (while some are calling the police) and Brad and Ryan fight to push the saws toward one another. Brad initially gains the upper hand, and Dina begins to cheer for Brad, which enrages Ryan, giving him the strength to push the saws toward Brad, cutting into his chest, but only inflicting a minor injury. Dina, realizing that Brad may lose the fight, then begins to cheer for Ryan, saying she never loved Brad and only him. At this point, both men realize that Dina is not worth killing each other over and that she has been lying to both of them the whole time in order to save herself. The game ends with Brad and Ryan deciding to stop fighting, allowing Dina to be lowered onto, and subsequently sliced in half, by the center saw, just as the authorities arrive.
Tape: Hello, Brad. Hello, Ryan. I want to play a game. The same woman has played each of you for a fool, manipulating your love for her and causing nothing but pain. Her fun and games has pushed you both to break the law to fulfill her material needs. She is toxic. And today, all of your transgressions will be made public. Now you must choose who must drop out of this triangle, for within sixty seconds, one of you must die. If you wish to save her, then the saws must be pushed all the way to one side or the other, sparing her while proving who is indeed the alpha male. Are you both strong enough to walk away from what is destroying you? Or will you fight one more time for the heart that binds? You have sixty seconds to decide. Live or die. Make your choice.
Or "The Garage Trap", "The Car Trap", or "The Junkyard Trap", or "The Vehicle Trap"A man named Evan wakes up, glued to the driver's seat of a car that is propped up on its hind wheels. Evan is told by a tape placed in the tape deck of the car that his friends are in the garage with him and are also a part of his game, and that in order to prevent them from dying through a chain of events, he must reach a lever located in front of him on the outer side of the windshield within 30 seconds. One of his friends Dan is located behind the car, with his arms and jaw chained to the rear end of the car, and his body to a pole behind it. His girlfriend Kara is strapped down underneath one of the propped-up wheels, and his third friend Jake is chained to the garage door directly in front of the car.
In order to pull the lever, Evan has to reach forward and tear a massive portion of his skin off to disconnect from the car seat. The stationary car is also slowly accelerating as the timer counts down. Evan eventually fails to reach far enough in time and the car's hind wheels are released, causing one of the wheels to fall onto Kara's face, crushing and grinding it into chunks of gore. The accelerating car then speeds foward , which gruesomely rips Dan's arms and jaw off, while speeding through and ultimately killing Jake chained to the garage door. The trap ends with the car having a head on collision with another empty car outside of the garage and Evan being thrown through the window by the impact. Evan is later confirmed to be dead.
Tape: Hello, Evan. I want to play a game. The situation you find yourself in is of your own doing. You, your girlfriend, and your friends are all racists. You have intimidated others based on their physical differences. But today, it is you who will run scared. Your pathetic friends follow your every word, Evan. Therefore, you will be the only one capable of saving them and yourself. In thirty seconds, jacks holding up this car will fall, setting off a deadly chain of events. In order to stop this from happening, you must tear yourself away from the seat to which you are glued. Then you must pull the red lever before you. But no act comes without a sacrifice. You've judged others by the color of their skin, and today, Evan, you will learn that we are all the same color on the inside. Live or die, Evan. The choice is yours.
or "The Propellers" or "The Blender"Sidney and her abusive boyfriend, Alex, are the victims of this trap. Because the trap is only alluded to in the movie and is not shown in its entirety, the description is offered by Sidney at a Jigsaw survivor's meeting. The couple appears together in the trap, clinging to two identical ladders made of razor wire, suspended above numerous upturned lawnmowers, whose rotary blades are angled up at the two. The aim of the game was to knock the person on the opposite ladder off of their ladder, which would cause them to fall onto the blades below. In the end, Sidney knocks Alex off of his ladder, somehow sparing her own life.
Bobby Dagen made his fame and fortune on the lie that he was a Jigsaw survivor, claiming that his "trap" involved him having to pierce two hooks into his pectoral muscles and hoist himself up onto a platform to survive, a story which garnered much media attention. The rest of his scheme involved making money by counseling other survivors and publishing a self-help book based on his seven steps of rehabilitation, or the "S.U.R.V.I.V.E." program (as he calls it), that encourage people to make a change in their lives by experiencing the same realizations that Jigsaw imparts on his victims, without the physical trap. Due to his grand-scale lie, and subsequent success from his book deal, he was captured and put through a series of trials to test whether or not he had what it takes to become a true survivor.
At the beginning of his trials, he was told by Billy the puppet, via a television screen, that if he didn't complete his trials within sixty minutes, his wife Joyce, would die.
Bobby's tests involve his two key staff members, closest friend, and wife. The trials symbolize the group's acceptance of Bobby's lie and metaphorically represents their choices to remain ignorant to the "evils" of his mass deception, with the exception of Bobby's wife who was entirely unaware of the scheme.
or "The Metal Casket"
Inscribed at the bottom of Bobby's cage: S.U.R.V.I.V.E.
Inscribed on one of the steps: "Start your life anew"
Inscribed on the door are the words: "Understand your problems"Bobby Dagen regains consciousness to find himself inside of a cylindrical metal cage that is resting in the center of a large dark room. Upon waking, the rules of his overall game are revealed by Billy the puppet, appearing on a television screen, and a timer on top of the television begins to count down from 60 minutes. After the tape ends, a pulley device on the ceiling activates and quickly pulls the cage, by chains connected to either side of it, towards the ceiling. As Bobby's cage is lifted off the floor, two grated platforms are released and jointly fall to the area of the floor beneath the cage, both armed with large metal rods jutting upwards towards it.
When the cage is hoisted to the top of the room, Bobby notices a lever above him and haphazardly pulls it, opening the bottom of the cage, causing him to fall, but just barely managing to grasp the sides of the cage in time. Bobby struggles to maintain his grasp on the cage's bars because should he fall, he would be impaled by the metal rods on the grated platforms below. By swinging the cage back and forth and timing his jump to land past the spiked platforms. He tries to open a door, but it is locked. He then notices a door on the other side of the room, so he procceds through it to his first test.
Tape: Hello, Bobby. I want to play a game. You have amassed wealth, fame, and notoriety based upon your story of survival. Many have aided in your cause, but few know the truth. You are a liar. You and I both know you have never been in a trap, nor have you ever been tested. Today, these lies will come full circle and you will learn if you truly have what it takes to call yourself a survivor. The cage you find yourself in will symbolize your rebirth. Within the next sixty minutes, you must stay upon the path of learning, and traverse a series of obstacles to obtain acsess to your wife, who you have also decieved. If you fail to reach her before the clock runs out, she will die. Live or die, Bobby. Make your choice.
or "Speak No Evil" or "The Fishhooks"
Inscribed on the door to this trap were the words: "Redefine your priorities"
Bobby enters a room and finds his publicist Nina, seated in a reclined chair, restrained and wearing a straight-jacket, with her chin angled towards the ceiling due to head gear holding it in place. Four metal rods are attached to a metal apparatus surrounding her, pointed towards her exposed neck and a string is visibly hanging out of her mouth. Bobby is told that he must pull out a key that is attached to a fishing hook resting in her stomach through her mouth within a sixty second time limit in order to unlock her bindings or the rods would slowly penetrate her throat. He is also told that whenever either of them make a noise reaching a certain decibel level, the noise detector beside them would cause the spikes to advance forward, moving them closer, hastening Nina's death.
Bobby makes numerous attempts to pull the fishing hook out through her mouth, but is forced to stop and quiet her each time she screams. In the end, Bobby manages to pull the hook hard enough to retrieve the flesh covered key, but Nina is ultimately killed because Bobby is unable to reach the lock to the device in time.
Tape: Hello, Bobby. Before you is one of your trusted colleagues. She has been your publicist for years, knowing your lies, but choosing to speak no evil. She has been richly rewarded for her words, but today, she will be rewarded for her silence. In the X-ray, you will see a key. The key to Nina's survival, which will shut off her device. But there's a catch. You have one minute to pull the fish hook from her stomach and unlock her device, or else the four spikes will penetrate her throat, silencing Nina forever. Remember, the spikes will also advance each time the decibel level in this room rises above a whisper, killing her even sooner. Will Nina live or die, Bobby? The choice is yours.
or "See No Evil" or "The Weight of Death"Inscribed on the door to this trap were the words: "Verify your self-worth through commitment"
In the next trap, Bobby finds his lawyer, Suzanne, on her back, facing the ceiling and strapped to the center of a large upright wheel. Instructions to the trap tell Bobby that he has to lift two weights on a machine to stop the wheel's rotation until 60 seconds expires or three rods located in the front of the wheel would impale Suzanne through her eyes and mouth when the wheel fully rotates her into them. The wheel begins to rotate, moving Suzanne slowly towards the rods. Meanwhile, Bobby attempts to lift the weights with his shoulders to hault the wheel's progress, but when he lifts them to the point of stopping the wheel, two sets of sharp rods on either side of him pierce through his ribcage, making it difficult for him to hold the weights. Bobby succeeds in stopping the wheel's progress for brief periods at a time, but does not do so for long enough and the wheel impales Suzanne on the three spikes before the 60 seconds expires.
Tape: Hello, Bobby. That feeling running through your body is fear. The fear of not knowing if you have what it takes to survive. Before you is your lawyer, who swore an oath of ethics, but chose to see no evil in order to benefit herself. Once her device begins to rotate, it will pierce her eyes and mouth if you don't delay its movement for at least thirty seconds. To do this, you must step into the other machine and lift the bars to the highest position long enough to close the circuit, slowing down her device. If you do nothing, she will wind to her death before the clock runs out. Do you have what it takes to help her? Make your choice.
or "Hear No Evil" or "The Deafening Mask" or "The Sight Trap"Inscribed on the door to this trap were the words: "Ignore your detractors"
Inscribed on the door out of this room were the words: Follow me, Bobby
Bobby entered a room on the second story of the building that was missing its floorboards, with the exception of a series of torn-apart beams, destroyed arches, and wooden planks. Bobby found his closest friend, Cale, on the other end of the room, equipped with a mask that covers his eyes and ears so that he can't see anything and it is difficult for him to hear. He also has a collar around his neck with a chain leading from the ceiling to the back of it, attached to a winch. If Cale were to fall, the winch would lift him off his feet and he would be hung. When Bobby played the tape for his test, he learned that he must grab a key located in the center of the room that was out of Cale's reach, while guiding the disabled Cale to a close enough distance so that Bobby can toss him the key that would release his noose before the timer expired and Cale was hung.
Bobby shouted loudly enough for Cale to hear him through his mask, and told him to pay close attention to every word he says. While navigating the numerous arches and beams to get to the key, Bobby simultaneously instructed Cale across one of the wooden planks, towards Bobby, causing Cale to knock over a carefully placed glass bottle and leading him into a panic. Bobby calmed him down and guided him towards the center of the room, where Cale nearly falls through one of the wooden boards but grasps a nearby plank to prevent himself from falling. Bobby got a hold of the key and, in the last few seconds, told Cale to cup his hands together at his chest so that he can catch it, but when Bobby threw the key, Cale fumbled it and it slipped through his fingers. The clock reached zero and Cale was subsequently launched into the air on the winch and hanged by the noose, as Bobby watched in horror.
Tape: Hello, Bobby. Across from you is your closest friend. He knows all your sins, yet he acts as though he hears no evil. Today, what he hears will be the difference between life and death. Bobby, you must help Cale walk over the planks and get as close to you as possible. Find your own way across the beams to the key. You must give it to him over the last span between you. If the noose around Cale's neck is not removed within sixty seconds, a winch will be engaged and your secret will be left hanging. Does Cale live or die, Bobby? The choice is yours.
Inscribed on the entrance to this room were the words: "Value your loved ones."
Bobby reaches his penultimate test and is told by Jigsaw that the door to the next room leads to his wife, but first, he must enter a four-digit combination into a lock on the door in order to open it. Billy the puppet goes on to explain that the combination is written on two of his teeth, two numbers to a tooth, but without assistance or a mirror he cannot read the combination, unless he physically pulls them out and reads them. A chart placed on the adjacent wall reveals to Bobby which teeth he needs to extract and in what order he must read the combination once he has it. Bobby is also supplied with a pair of dental pliers to use in removing his teeth.Bobby first consults the chart and realizes that he must pull out his two upper wisdom teeth, then he proceeds to take the pliers and pluck each tooth out, slowly and painfully.
Tape: Hello, Bobby. Before you is the door that leads to your wife. However, you must first make a choice. As you may have guessed, your decision will be as difficult as pulling teeth. The lock before you require a four-digit combination to open. However, if it is access you seek, then a true sacrifice will have to be made. Watch and learn, Bobby. The necessary numbers have been etched onto two of your teeth. Look to the chart as a reference for which teeth to pull and in which order to enter the digits. Time is ticking down. You must make your decision quickly.
or "The Pig Iron"Inscribed on the entrance to this trap were the words: "Embrace each day as if it were your last"
Bobby reaches the final room, where his wife Joyce is chained to a platform by her neck. He attempts to rescue her, but finds that her platform is surrounded by a powerful electric fence, making it impossible for him to reach her. Bobby is told that if he wants to save his wife, he'll have to make the lie that he invented a reality and that in the leftover time from his previous trials, he must complete an electrical circuit by connecting a plug to its socket at the top of the room. The only way to do this, he is told, is to complete the trap that he technically invented: insert two hooks into his pectoral muscles and hoist himself up by the same chains to the plug and cable.
Bobby, after admitting to his wife that he lied, begins his test by pushing the hooks through his pectoral muscles and slowly pulling himself up to the cables above him. When Bobby reaches the plug, just as he is about to attach the cable and save his wife, his skin gives way to the hooks because they can no longer support his weight and they tear through, sending Bobby falling to the floor, just as the time limit expires. The platform Joyce is strapped to immediately sinks down as the two metallic sides rise up in a circular dome like shape, sealing her on all sides as a large funnel with a vent on top rises up at the front of the dome. Flames then erupt from all sides of the dome, leaving Bobby trapped on the other side of the electric fence, tortured psychologically as he is completely helpless to watch and listen to Joyce's agonized screams for help as she slowly and painfully roasts to death inside the heating oven resembling a brazen bull.
Tape: Hello, Bobby. You have almost completed your rebirth. However, your final task will be your most difficult. The woman before you symbolizes your success. She is your trophy, and she has seen the good in your message, despite its dishonest beginnings. Today, we will see if you can truly earn her love. To prove your status as a survivor, you must overcome a game that should be all too familiar. You supposedly survived it once already, so it should be easy to survive it once again. Pierce the hooks through your chest muscles and the game will begin. In order to free yourself and your wife, you must hoist yourself with these chains and connect the extension cords above you before the clock expires. Both hands will be needed to complete this task, but that should be simple, for as you claim to understand, the Pectoral muscles can easily support your weight. So I ask you Bobby: When you embrace every day as if it is your last, will it be with your wife? Make your choice.
Inscribed on the entrance to this room were the words: "Gibson, see for yourself" During Bobby's 5th trap, The Wisdom Teeth Combination, Detective Matt Gibson and two of his officers went to catch Detective Mark Hoffman and try to arrest him. He found the observatory room where Hoffman had been watching. But instead of finding Hoffman in the chair, he found Dan in the chair, the person who had his jaw and arms ripped off from the Horsepower Trap behind the car, while Hoffman swapped places with the guy and into the body bag Dan was in. After realizing that Hoffman was watching over them, Gibson tries to call Palmer but before he could tell her about Hoffman, an automatic sentry gun was activated and shot Gibson and his officers in the process and killed them.
Inscribed on the door that trapped them in were the words: You were warned
The cyanide box trap was left for the S.W.A.T. team who searched the insane asylum. After reaching Cale's corpse, they chose an alternate path that lead to this room. When they reached this room, a door locked them in. Once they tried to open the door, cyanide pills were dropped into a liquid, producing a deadly gas. The officers tried to break the door down and escape, but failed, and were all gassed to death.
After placing Jill in the Reverse Bear Trap, Hoffman attempts to cover his tracks and disappear by setting fire to a gas tank in his lair, resulting in an explosion that demolishes it, along with Billy. As Hoffman walks away from the explosion, he is attacked by three men dressed in Jigsaw's Pighead masks. Hoffman attempts to fight them off, but is overwhelmed and subsequently drugged. As Hoffman succumbs to the drug, he sees one of the Pigheads remove his mask, revealing himself to be Dr. Lawrence Gordon, while the other two masked figures remain unknown. It is revealed through a series of flashbacks that Dr. Gordon has been assisting Jigsaw as his third apprentice since Gordon cauterized his own leg after the events of The Bathroom Trap. If anything happened to Jill, Jigsaw instructed Dr. Gordon to "act on his behalf."
Hoffman then wakes up chained to the same pipe as Adam in The Bathroom Trap from the original Saw. He tries to grab the hacksaw near him to cut off his own foot and escape, but Dr. Gordon grabs it and throws it down an adjacent hallway, out of his reach. Dr. Gordon then delivers the iconic line, "Game Over", and slams the door to the room shut, just as Jigsaw did in the original Saw, leaving Hoffman in the bathroom to die with no means of escape.
Tape: Hello Dr. Gordon, you are, perhaps, my greatest asset. Without you, my work over the last few years would not have been possible. That being said, I have a request, watch over Jill. And should anything happen to her, I want you to act immediately on my behalf, and in return for that; I will keep no more secrets from you. I have shown you a lot of places, but there is one that will perhaps be the most meaningful to you...
